2019/20 Winter beginner’s course

We are delighted to announce that we now have dates arranged for our beginner’s course. It will start at 7.30pm on Tuesday 4th February 2020 and run weekly for eight weeks finishing in time for Easter.

This is the perfect introduction for anyone considering taking up beekeeping or even just interested in finding out more about honey bees.

We will cover the following topics:

  • Introduction – Honeys bees and other pollinators
  • The life of the honeybee
  • How to set up an apiary and the beekeeper’s garden
  • The beekeeping year
  • Equipment you will need
  • Working with the bees
  • Keeping bees healthy
  • Products of the hive

The course fee is £85 per person which includes a copy of the book “BBKA Guide to keeping bees”. Since beekeeping is even more pleasurable when done with a partner, we offer a discount of £25 for two people at the same address who are prepared to share a copy of the book. Under 18s can attend for just £40 if their responsible adult is also on the course.
