Winter meeting – The Future of the British and Irish Native Bee with Norman Carreck

For our third meeting of the season, the eminent researcher, Norman Carreck, will be coming to talk to Croydon Beekeepers Association about his work with the native bees of the UK.

Norman is part of several initiatives that monitor winter losses, the success of both managed and feral colonies, as well as trying to understand the genetic make-up of our bees and how that might lend them success. His talk to the CBKA will cover all this and more. For example, how much better do locally adapted bees overwinter? What impact do introduced queens and nucs have on the gene pool? Should we be importing bees to help improve our stock?

There is no charge to attend the presentation but demand is expected to be high, so we request that you reserve a place using the Eventbrite link below to ensure that we keep numbers to a comfortable level. Simply click on the link below and fill in your name and email to reserve your space for this fascinating evening. Don’t forget, there will be tea, cake and bee chat afterwards!
